Beautiful Fabric

Today I was so lucky to have a facial & chat with Margaret Hema. Her little room in the Harbour City Towers in Wellington is quaint and such a reflection of her, a warm and caring lady with a love of the old world and its charm. She offered some amazing advice regarding skin care & her most important which everybody should remember is skin should be treated like beautiful fabric. Would we use Jif or Janola on our faces? Essentially so many of us scrub, rub and aggravate our skin with products that contain the same kinds of chemicals to try and make it glow, and this was something as somewhat of a (former) product fantatic I have been doing for a long time. If you are on the quest for glowing skin, give it a break from scrubs, masques and foam, and look to ancient methods for success. Oil is one of the most ancient facial cleansers, and the perfect way to start! An excellent source for some more info if you're interested about this is www.theoilcleansingmethod.com :)

Olive Oil 101

Olive oil is an oil which you should consider adding to your regime as a nourishing hair repair treatment. Warm the oil in your hands and apply to damp hair, and cover your hair for around half an hour. Shampoo and rinse thoroughly & condition as usual. It will make hair shiny and is so much better than supermarket hot oils. A simple treat!

1957 Classic

1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad.
A classic car that's more futuristic than any car that will be produced in 2010. Bring back the jet light and the general bat ergonomics meets the stealth of a shark fin car appearance!

Loving Autumn

Oh how I am enjoying the change of colours in the trees, making vege soups and hot chocolates again. But most of all I am excited about rediscovering the beautiful layers of clothing this season allows! Capes and furs will always be a favourite for Autumn, and pretty vintage dresses and long gloves. Autumn should mean exquisite fineries and clever detail, a chance to bring back the layers and enjoy silk, wool, fur, leather and velvet, as well as rich texture, and to wear your favourite coat on a night out. I hope you are making the most of this beautiful season!
